While in her final week of her Zambia trip, Debra shares young Brison‘s story. His journey is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit. Despite facing numerous challenges, this determined Grade 4 boy continues to inspire us all.
Every Saturday, Brison walks 9 km to Brook of Hope Home and 9 km back, just to attend tutoring programs, enjoy a warm meal, and receive spiritual teachings. His dedication caught our attention when BHH staff found him on the streets, trying to raise money for school shoes.
After faithfully attending Saturday sessions for a month, we knew Brison was serious about his education. Thanks to our generous donors, he was provided with full sponsorship—including a uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies. However, shortly after receiving his new shoes, they were taken and sold, leaving him unable to attend school once again.
During a family visit, we learned about his situation and immediately took him to Bata Shoes to get another pair. We also discovered that his bicycle, his only means of easier transportation, was in poor condition—the chain was missing, the tire punctured, and the brakes not working. Once again, with the support of our amazing donors, Brison‘s bike was repaired, and he was back at school and attending tutoring sessions.
By God’s grace and through the compassion of our supporters, Brison is on his way to becoming the first in his family to complete school. His unwavering spirit and determination are a beautiful reminder of what can be achieved with hard work and a helping hand.
Please keep Brison in your prayers as he pursues his dream of education. Your support is changing lives—one child at a time.
