Dear Friends and Supporters,
It’s hard to believe that April is already here – where has the time gone? As the seasons begin to change here in Canada, we are filled with gratitude and joy as we welcome my mom, Debra, back home from Zambia. Her return brings with it fresh stories, renewed vision, and a deeper reminder of the incredible work God is doing through Brook of Hope Home.
As we enter this Easter season, we are especially mindful of the sacrifice, hope, love, and new life that this time represents. These themes exist not only in Scripture, but in the everyday lives of the children and community we serve in Zambia.
Welcome Back Debbie
Debbie returned from her time in Kabwe and the surrounding communities just last week, and once again, it was an inspirational and impactful visit. From Saturday tutoring sessions filled with eager young learners, to vibrant all day church gatherings, and to puppet shows that had all the children laughing and engaged – this trip was rich in meaningful connection and community building!
But beyond the activities themselves, what stands out most is the consistency of love. Each visit strengthens relationships, builds trust, and reminds every child they are seen, known, and deeply valued.
A Note from Debbie
This trip was especially meaningful to me. Every time I return to Zambia, I am reminded that this is not just a place we serve, it is a place where we belong. The children continue to grow, not only in their education, but in confidence and hope for their futures.
Seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and witnessing their faith in the midst of challenges is something that stays with me long after I return home. Thank you for being part of this journey. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity make every moment there possible.
A Note from Peter
Dear Debra,
on behalf of everyone at Brook of Hope Home, I would like to wish you a safe flight as you journey back home to Canada. Your time with us has been a profound blessing. We have seen your love poured out daily upon the children and our entire team. It is clear to all of us that your heart is here in Zambia, because, as the Word of God reminds us, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Your treasure is so clearly found in the smiles of these children you minister to and in every life you touch here.
Thank you for your constant encouragement and for reminding us that we are never alone as we serve our community. We thank God for your life and the light you bring to this mission. We love you dearly, and we are already looking forward to the day we see you again. Safe travels!
With love and gratitude,
Peter Musentekwa
President, BHHZ.
Easter Blessing
This Holy Thursday as we prepare our hearts for Easter, we are reminded that this season is ultimately about sacrificial love and the gift of new life.
In many ways, the work at Brook of Hope Home reflects this same message of hope rising in difficult places. This message of love and light breaking through darkness and new beginnings being written in the lives of children who are deeply loved by God is what drives our mission.
Your support is part of that story. Every act of giving helps provide education, nourishment, mentorship, and the truth that each child has value and purpose
Thank you for your continued prayers, generosity, and belief in this mission. Whether you have given, shared our story, or lifted us up in prayer, you are part of everything that is happening on the ground in Zambia.
We are so grateful to walk this journey together.
With gratitude from back home in Aurora,
Debra
